Gemsys has been working with all of supply chain partners to provide technical solutions to upgrade many models of coin and currency counting machines. We are pleased to offer upgrades or replacement equipment where upgrades are not technically possible. In order to support your requirements in a timely and cost effective manor please review the polymer upgrade / replacement documents and contact us immediately. Many of our customers are currently taking advantage of our limited time trade in discount program or upgrading their equipment to count the new notes and coins. Please take a moment to complete the Inventory Confirmation Report (ICR) and send it to us. A Gemsys representative will contact you immediately with the information you require. Most current models will accept the new coins but will require some mechanical adjustments and/or software updates to maintain accuracy. Retrofit costs will vary from machine to machine, and in some cases retrofit may not be technically possible, or not financially viable.

BACKGROUND:
New Coins:
The Royal Canadian Mint will issue new $1 and $2 coins in January 2012. The new $1.00 and $2.00 coins will hve the same dimensions but will have improved security features and be made from lighter alloys.

New Bank Notes:

The Bank of Canada will release the second denomination ($50) of the new polymer series in March 2012. The remaining denominations $20.00, $10.00, and $5.00 notes will be released towards the end of 2012 or early part of 2013.

The new series polymer bank notes were introduced November 14th 2011 with the release of the $100.00. The new series notes are manufactured from a polymer (biaxially-oriented polypropylene) BOPP. This new material will make the notes more durable and also provide enhanced security features (not available on paper based notes).
